Spotlight Search
Spotlight is a system-wide search index utility that provides instantaneous local and cloud search results.

Primary Key Command: Press Command + Space to open the floating Spotlight overlay from anywhere in Mac OS.
Key Features of Spotlight
Launch Apps: Type the name of any app (e.g., “Safari”) and press Return to launch it instantly.
Advanced Calculations & Conversions: Type math equations (e.g., “45 * 12”) or unit conversions (e.g., “100 usd to eur”) directly into the input box and hit Return to instantly get the answer read by VoiceOver.
Deep Local Search: Instantly find documents, emails, messages, notes, and photos by searching key phrases.
Definition Finder: Type a word and down arrow then hit Command L to view its dictionary definition directly in the search interface. Press Command D to go to the full Dictionary.
Alternative Finder Search
Pressing Command + Option + Space opens an advanced Finder Search window, allowing you to perform highly detailed, multi-criteria file searches across your local drives and network volumes.
